SUGAR
About Sugar
We originate raw and white sugar, mainly from Brazil, Thailand and Guyana.
Sugar is a bulk commodity produced from sugarcane or sugar beets. Sugarcane grows best in tropical areas whereas sugar beet is produced in temperate zones.
Once harvested, cane or beet is crushed to extract juice. This juice can be utilized to produce sugar or ethanol. In the case of sugarcane, the remaining vegetable matter (bagasse) can be burned to produce energy to run the plant and supply the local grid.
To produce sugar, the extracted juice is purified and the mixture is then dehydrated and thickened into syrup which is crystallized. The crystals are separated from the remaining liquid to producemolasses and raw sugar, which is then sent to refineries for further processing.
Because it is not possible to store sugarcane as it loses sugar content, raw sugar is typically processed in the growing area and exported from there.
South America and Asia dominate the world of sugar. Brazil is by far the largest producer and exporter. The largest importers are the Middle East, Indonesia, the countries of the Black Sea and Africa.
India, China and the EU are both large producers and consumers. They swing from being net exporters to net importers depending on local production conditions, and those swings have significant consequent influence on the world market.

About Rice
Rice is the most important staple food for a large part of the world’s population providing more than one fifth of the calories consumed worldwide by humans. Most rice is consumed as white rice, however rice flour is becoming popular with bakers as a gluten-free starch alternative. Some milling by-products include bran, oil, and starch.
Thailand, Vietnam and India are the top three exporters, followed by the US, Pakistan, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. Africa accounts for approximately one third of global demand.
